The boy shut the door behind him. He pulled the shade of his lamp and opened the curtains.

Tom sat crosslegged on his bed and stared intently at the bulb, the light burning into his eyes.

Hayley pushed open the door. "Thomas, don't!" She switched off the light and drew the curtains.

Tom could barely see the headteacher as the light was turned off. His head was exploding with pain; stars in his vision. "My name's..." He slumped to the floor.

Ivan's eyes widened in surprise. A Russian curse escaped his lips as he craned his neck to see properly.

When Brian ran in, he didn't hesitate a single second before rushing to Tom's side, clutching him with both hands. "Tom! Why did you do that for?" He hadn't even removed his sunglasses.

Ivan frowned, muttering in Russian as he tried to figure out what they should do. He'd never met someone with photophobia before - he was quite confused.

Ian skidded to a halt outside the door, a little breathless. "What the hell is going on?" He was never good at dealing with confusion, and he supported himself on the doorframe, coughing slightly.

Ivan patted the newcomer on the back, before stepping into the room properly. "Two peoples?" 'I hope they can understand what I mean...I have got to learn more English!'

Ivan nodded and moved towards the boy, picking him up as best he could. He grimaced with the weight but didn't drop him. "Heelp?" he gasped, too busy to notice his pronounciation.

Brian stepped aside when the boy was lifted in Ivan's arms, but quickly placed both of his small frail arms under him, hoping it'd be enough. "We need to close all the lights if we're carrying out of the room!"

Brian let go of Tom for a second. He took off the sunglasses and put them back over the boy's eyes before placing his arms under him again. "Let's go." He waited for Ivan to start walking.

Ivan nodded and started walking, slowly at first so Brian could adjust before moving faster. "Which way?" he called over his shoulder.

Brian kept up easily, and stopped for the headmistress' instructions.

Ivan stopped as well, now looking unsure of himself. He nodded to a sign not too far away reading 'sanatorium'. "What that?" he asked, hoping it was the medical room.
